Sustainability: Design and Make
with Jo Flannery
only 3 seats left
We have partnered with thrift store Found by The Pound for this 4-week course that dives into the subject of sustainability. Using existing garments from Found by the Pound’s vast collection, students will use machine and hand sewing techniques to transform and remake with minimal waste. Students’ creativity will be super-charged as they consider all aspects of design and manufacture. Over 4 Saturdays students will produce a mood and range board, a new-from-old garment and will gain a greater understanding of the complex social, environmental, political and business implications of sustainability. We will also look at the role of sustainability as a growing career path in fashion. This 4-week course will stretch the students as design thinkers and problem solvers.
This class is for teens ages 14-18
Taught by Jo Flannery, a fashion professional from the UK with many years experience working with designers, manufacturers, design agencies and universities. Her classes are pre-college level and will help you to understand how to get from idea to reality.
